Underlying sources

Compliance, permit, and violation data is compiled from EPA's ECHO Exporter and RCRAInfo — U.S. government records. Commercial-hauler listings (business name, address, category, rating) are sourced from Google Business Profile data. If you plan to reuse Google-sourced listing data yourself, check Google's own terms for that data — we aren't in a position to grant rights to it beyond what we display here.

What US Waste Index adds

Beyond re-publishing source records, we compile company rollups (grouping facilities under a shared operator), classify facilities by commercial-provider role, and match against FMCSA registration data. This compiled/derived layer is our own work product.

What you can do with what's on the site

• Cite or link to an individual fact, page, or record — please attribute the ultimate source (EPA ECHO/RCRAInfo, or Google Business Profile for commercial listings) alongside us where it's a source fact rather than something we derived.
• Reference figures for research, journalism, or your own comparison shopping.

What we ask you not to do without checking with us first: bulk-scrape or systematically republish the compiled site as your own dataset or directory product. The underlying EPA data is public and you're free to go get it directly from EPA; it's specifically our compiled/ derived layer (company rollups, classifications, matched records) we're asking you not to bulk-copy.

API and bulk access

We don't currently offer a public, documented API or bulk-download product. A facility-search endpoint exists to power our own map feature; it isn't intended for general-purpose or high-volume use and we may change or rate-limit it without notice. If you want structured or bulk access for a specific use case, email us — we're open to it, just not self-serve yet.
