Two different kinds of "wrong"

A compliance figure looks wrong (a violation, permit, or inspection date) — this almost always means our copy of EPA's data is out of date or EPA's own record has since been corrected. We can't edit these fields directly (see Methodology's read-only guarantee), but we can re-check the source and re-ingest if our snapshot is stale. Tell us the facility and what you believe EPA's current record actually shows, ideally with a link to the EPA ECHO page you checked.

A business detail looks wrong (name, address, contact info, description, services) — for a claimed listing, the business itself can request a change; see Claim Policy. For an unclaimed listing, report it the same way as below.

How to report

Email [email protected] with the facility or company page URL, the field you believe is wrong, and what you believe the correct value is (with a source if you have one — an EPA ECHO link, a state licensing record, etc.). Every facility and company page also links a "Report a data issue" option from Contact.

What happens next

We manually review each report against the underlying source before making any change — we don't take a single unverified report at face value, since the same mechanism could otherwise be used to push a false correction. We aim to respond within a few business days. We don't yet publish a public change log of corrections made; this page will be updated if that changes.

Disagree with the outcome

Reply to our response with additional evidence and we'll take another look. For a compliance-data dispute specifically, the authoritative record is always EPA ECHO/RCRAInfo directly, not our copy of it — we'll point you there if a discrepancy can only be resolved at the source.
