About the data

US Waste Index compiles a machine-readable profile for each regulated US waste facility from two public EPA sources:

• ECHO Exporter — facility identity, location, and facility-level compliance summary.
• RCRAInfo — hazardous-waste handler details: permits, evaluations, and violations.

Canonical records (permits, violations, evaluations, compliance summaries) are written only by our ingestion pipeline and are read-only. Facility operators can claim a profile to add contact and service details, but cannot alter the regulatory record.

Compliance signals

• Significant non-complier — flagged by EPA (RCRA_SNC_FLAG).
• Open violation(s) — unresolved violations on record.
• No open violations — no unresolved violations as of the snapshot date shown on that facility's profile.

Data reflects the most recent EPA snapshot and may lag the official record. Always verify against EPA ECHO for regulatory decisions.
